governments who modernise

unlike american and western capitalism asian countries have grown when governments are led by engineers who want to do more than account/regulate the economy
the hybrid networks of keiretsu japan and chaebol are part of this pattern as are hiow they choose to compete and collaborate

japan sony versus korea samsung

the book  by sea-jin chang sony versus samsung is very interesting -it show how sony lost world leadership by too much focus on new to the world innovation while samsung scaled its way into a leading position in smart phones and moore

Entrepreneurial Revolutions – lessons 60 years exploring AI, map solutions to Goal1 end poverty
LOCAL:Resilience of local community/family  critical  (video 1)_
ER includes valuing bottom-up goverance (Economist 1)
 - ie maximizing self-capacity on health and life shaping services- search for how to replicate partly analogous solutions linking in goals 1-6 (moments SDGs AI ER)- eg both Chinese and South Asian villagers depended on mothers knowing oral rehydration without which quarter of infants die of diarrhea in humid villages without electricity- indeed both nations empowerment and rising economic valuation of women depended on sharing solutions both in 1970s and then first experiments in tech for the poorest- eg china and bangladesh mobilising optimal fintech models to end poverty –(cases fazle abed, jack ma , yidan Co-founder ten cent #metoo normanmacrae.net love each others nations)
2
With nearly 5 billion (over 60%) of people being Asian-(location east and south of northern hemisphere) their intergenerational growth challenges- post-war and then AI mapping of how to go post colonial as well as post-industrial have needed far deeper human and machine intelligence than the western G6 empires have understood. If the west separates 2020s Ai/5G from the east:Climate and other worldwide youth challenges will be the biggest loser. Simple geo features compounded my british mercantile history explain why far the greatest economic growth has been stimulated along eurasia’s eastern coastal belt- far the most conflicts remain along the south Eurasian  belt – both Asian and emd saea European as well as the lanbblocking gulf. Such natural demands to innovate trade blend with ever deeper cultural issues unless loving human interpretation is networked especially through the schooling of next generations and attention to their livelihoods and search for peace. This applies whether a society trusts a golden rule relision or more conscious appeals to inter-generational development. ONEBELTNEWS.com EconomistAsia.net EconomistArts.com...
..GLOBAL: Each of Gordon Moores  100 fold increases in tech From 0G 1970s 1G 1980s to 5G 2020s has integratedExpoenenjtial opporitunities and threats at both local and global levels of mapmaking/ ER anticipates that transformations to education and intergenerational  financing
crucial wherever  njations and whole interlocking world trade belts grow sustainably in line with Renewing natural resources
The best news is where next level G applied to leapfrog- example vilagers without electricity grids also made world most valuable innovations in fiorts partnership experiments with mobile and solar – 50 years has shown: 1 every place needs to celebrate youth as win-win currency in applying ai in ways opposite to paper currency and thing age consumption whilst all 17 sdgs have systemic relationships which harmed by building bodrers the greatest moon races on earth will be designed so that wherever next girl is born community thriviving enough for her to have both a great and greta chance at life

2020s first decade where half of old knowledge becomes most redudant every decade- NOW! if elders don’t trust youth to design future, nature will give up on humans being smartest species.

History's most valuable book

Ezra Vogel's new book China and Japan facing history is a 500 page tour de force by an 89 year old whose grey cells fortunately live up to anyone else hubbing out of harvard
we will try and update our learning- but here's our first 3 study areas
1 how japan helped china 1978-1992 modernise
2 from 1992 why old troubles started to divide china and japan in spite of being where the greatest tech experiments for humanity were hubbing
3 sometimes lesser known biographies of characters in the last 1400 years of sino-japan relationships Ezra Vogel brings to our attention
----------------- Transparency Declaration - in my family's view only Asia can save humanity in time from G7 politicians who see their job as regulating not modernising their countries. This misdescription of public servants role comes at the most critical time parents and children have ever face -  when moore's law has exponentially compounded up to a trillion times moore tech than man needed to moon race- there is something terribly wrong with how superficial tech on earth has been -dont you thinks? ( if you disagree- don't waste time reading any more- if you might agree i am at chris.macrae@yahoo.co.uk )

My father Norman Macrae used to tease fellow Economist Journalists- most history is bunk - thats because in the empire's education system academic history is often written after the case to read the way rich sponsors want. Of course some historians bravely wriote up alternative views- but which do you think get simplified into 5th graders history. When I  grew up in London i was puzzled why history we pre-adolescents were examined on never reached the 20th C-only m,juch later did i realise it ,must have been hard for the UK to examine how our coutry's colonisation of much of the world was the root cause of world wars.
21st C comes of Age
Whether you agree or not with 20th centuries past- Ezra Vogel's new book China and Japan facing history may well be the most important book ever published on sustainability opportunities of humans. Of course this systems chalenge depends on how you value exponentials- dad set a 70 year timeline from 1962 - consider Japan on humanising AI, going beyond carbon, celebrating a peace dividend, empowering the next girl born (including two thirds as Asians) to have a great chance at life because every community thrives through its own deepest diversity - see also David Atttenborogh 7 worlds one planet- probably the most important televisual knowledge you will ever see if valuing nature matters to you

vogel list of reasons why china japan relationship declined from 1992

dispute over senkaku/diaoyu islands

loss of key bridge builders in both governments eg china's deng and japan's tanaka

collapse of soviet union- china japan us had shares reason to cooperate against soviet union until its collapse 1991

reduced importance of japanese assistance

president lee teng-hui and japans links to taiwanese localism

chinese fears of japanese military revival after gulf war - (when gulf war ended 1991 usa critical of japan which imported so  much oil from gulf for not contributing more to the war effort)

China's exceptional rise 1993-2001- in 1993 china's gdp was only 443 bn$ whereas japan with tenth of population of china had 10 times bigger gdp of 4.4 trillion $-but that year china grew at rate of 14% and seemed likely to grow annually at over 10% whilst japan was stagnating after the bubble burst in 1989-after 1997 when japan suffered in asian financial crisis but china did not, chinese officials were confident their economic an d;political system was working better than japans and china's entry into the world trade organisation 2001 further boosted china's confidence

Japan and UK - islands that had empired over the old world give back?

by the tokyo olympics 1964 a miracle had happened in japan- its engonner had rebuilt the nation from the rubble of war and thanks to deming japan had lots of world class offers- to create win-win trades with eg s korea singapore taiwan hk- at the olympics prince charles was the first to ask japan (akio morita sony) to inward invest in europe

playing card pack2019 worldrecordjobs.com

JFKennedy: In 1961 a US president could assign 10000 young brains one great goal (moon race) to advance nations and inspire the world. By 21st C any new president began with legacy of 500000 pen pushers and 2 bipolar parties stuck in past arguments instead of leveraging next giant leaps for humanity. What might have happened if US hadn’t lost confidence in cultural integration, with JFK the first of many leadership assassinations 1963 & English language media turning virally pessimistic 24/7/365/60 ?

Valuing Commons not Socialism: Before world war 2 the BBC started the most innovative media experiment. What if the constitution of world service media wasn’t a corporation nor a .gov but owned by and for all peoples. While licence fee investment structure perpetuated, government control of secrets needed in war time has subsequently prevented much of BBC’s potential. David Attenborough is an exception -from the earliest days of tv show he has celebrated nature with a human joy  His more famous brother Richard went from acting to directing Gandhi the movie and bridging out of London Gandhian networks founded during Gandhi’s last 2000 person summit out of London, Quaker Friends House Easton 1925
1965: Intel’s Gordon Moore  alumni to multiply analytic and communications capacity of silicon chips 100 fold every decade to 2030. Human Race to Imagineer inter-networking with trillion times moore tech than moon landing. How would decades 5G (2020s) 4G 3G 2G 1G 0G(1970s) spin? Could 200 nations road map each decade of rising exponentials ahead of time? Futurise history -replace slavery’s half millennium of inequalities and gun-wars with love & action millennial SDGs so each next girl/boy born to thrive through livelihoods & community

Von Neumann: world wars accelerated engineering technologies: coding, telecoms, transport, nuclear. In 10 hectic years before death by cancer, JVN tided these up for US leap far ahead on nuclear; all other tech from computing to new brain science open sourced globally. Thus immigrant from Europe’s East hyperlinked flows of positive productivity: human & machine intel. He’ be shocked Nasa missed human interest story of moon landing 1969: Look at mother earth: 10% people continent America so lucky lots of land & ocean; due to how Britannia colonized birders 50% people continental Asians so little equality of ocean access; remap world trade out of aisingapore.org so millennials first sustainability generation. So much work to do 1955-2025report.net
Through Q3 of 20th C, Borlaug grew one of 2 memes whose grassroots networking by village women has saved over a billion people from starvation and dehydration. His crop science raised productivity and food security of village communities. With south Asia’s staple, rice, it is as vital a primary literacy as numbers. Life critical community knowhow is borderless- local rice science innovation  energetically shared by Chinese and Bangladeshi matriarchs since 1970s raising life expectancy
Q3 20th C: American  Deming improves engineering productivity by order of magnitude. Ironically US’s big engineering companies wouldn’t hire him. Deming networks became how japan and  far east re-engineered worldwide supply chains maximizing JIT & SME & next gen infrastructure maps. Core to new capitalism: sustain positive flows: heartland and coastal supercities- by 1962 japan risen 2nd largest economy, by 1975 first 10 years of Singapore transformed far east seas: world trade’s leading space
1964 Detroit, Larry Brilliant’s career starts: first job as doctor to care for Warner Brother’s pop band Wavy Gravy on global tour. After hard year’s work, band relaxes: visiting consciousness guru in Afghan hills. Even remote villagers saw moon race beginning era of no mission impossible. Larry stayed in A. Asia: the man to end smallpox, and …since 1960s The Economist argues local celebration universal health care = core audit designing youth’s global sustainability
1968 Yoko Ono Japanese American multimedia Artist rose from birth to aristocratic family Tokyo 1933 to marrying Beatle John Lennon NY 1969. Wedding song Imagine forwarded united world of peoples beyond old nations. While John killed 1980, Yoko’s vision cheers on artistic supercities and www networkers of love and human capital

America’s most undervalued pop star the Grateful Dead’s J Perry Barlow who wend from leading the band to EFF : Tim Berner Lee’s west coast partner
The second bottom-up knowhow meme for saving a billion lives: Oral Rehydration (OR) discovered in a Calcutta lab. Not until former shell CEO Fazle Abed changed career 1972 to poverty alleviation and developing poorest Muslim women villagers webs can build nations that OR became core primary school curriculum and with crop science catalyst to banking for village family businesses.  During 1970s Fazle started up BRAC Bangladesh Rural Advancement  Committee with head office in village so that BRAC became the first Freire-audited, & now world #1 livelihood edu system, and NGO partnership
Missing Lesson: Back in 1930s when Montessori helped Gandhi design peer to peer village schools, OR unknown
The moon race catalyzed a continent-wide debate across Latin America. What had this region inherited culturally from the Spanish and Portuguese. Brazilian Paulo Freire pedagogy of oppressed chartered the vision of community experiential learning mediated by Franciscan servant leaders. It wasn’t until late 1980s that Boston health students started scaling this with services in Haiti and Peru but as we see from Fazle Abed, Bangladesh Muslim village women empowerment started putting Freire into motion from 1972 onwards. POP took on new meaning of Preferential Opportunity Poor- nations great leaders live , learn with poorest -link in new tech
1964: Out of British Embassy in Tokyo Prince Charles enjoys watching the Olympics on the best tv set he had ever seen. He asks the engineer installing it , Akio Morita, to inward invest in the UK- the first small but hi-visibility step in transformation between Japan and European investments in mutual human productivity and trust-flows
Kissinger’s US diplomacy through 1970s mediated ultimate 21stc miracle- what was the right time for fifth of worlds people to rejoin world markets- china had withdrawn in 1860 rather than accept British ultimatum of opium as trading currency
1946 Japan Emperor Family: Japanese Emperor Hirohito changed Far East’s most aggressive colonist by declaring to his peoples his greatest error. I was wrong in thinking Japanese engineers would be good at war-let’s find every world class value of engineering Far East islanders can share and map happy world trading routes around. From 1962, Economist surveys “Consider Japan” as leading rising sun nations as smart superports. Ref Japan Keiretsu, Korea Chaebol

1976 China’s Deng Xiaoping experiments 5 capitalisms in one: diaspora inward investment, Keynesian agriculture, ..asks japan redesign Beijing’s engineering Uni- scary old communism replaced by human cap: grandmothers & 1-child family tree
Fazle Abed Bangladesh BRAC.net through 0G-5G decades; starts up community resilience hubs chaired by village girls changed the global aid industry; however how to mobilise this through 2G 1990s to 5G 2020s depended on partnership sequencing. Those who kept joining Fazle Abed’s mission just in time have achieved ultra SDgoal miracles eg digital bank-a-billion bkash.com. Back in Marco Polo’s day St Francis demonstrated nature as men’s prime network and local health : the Clares’ network
Which nations’ schools dared explore how 1980s changed language literacy for ever. Coding became as valuable as mother tongue
Bill Gates PCLanguage 1 extended S valley to Seattle
Jobs Apple Mac Valley  PCL2
Torvalds from Nordica to S Valley: PCL3: open source Linux
Just as coding was the lost curriculum of 20th C, The Lancet has published chapter & verse : missing in 2010s is peer to peer pre-adolescent health
1975 Hangzhou: Jack Ma Part 1- seeing 10 year old Ma bored in classrooms, his Geography teacher said our designated tourist town Hangzhou has no real maps of outside world. Why don’t you train 1000 youth to speak English. be joyful tourist guide, explore their global stories. Jack Ma took education outside classroom age 11-30. Today, different regions in China are designing practical non-examination schooling –eg Girls AI
1985 China: personal telephones non-existent. Jack Ma 2 hears  rumor that Ren Zengfei (Huawei birth 1985) is helping rural communities leapfrog to 21st C telecoms.By1995, his first trip  USA he sees worldwide web and Bezos launch Amazon. He asks the greatest job creating question of changing millennium – when www comes to china how can youth maximise jobs & integrates SMEs into every markets value chain. Jack starts 25 years youth ambassador ecommerce/ fintech
Berners Lee invents worldwide web and transfers from Geneva to MIT Boston. Life’s mission, as seen London Olympics www is for everyone. Co-star opening acts_ Queen Elizabeth & J Bond parachute in
Over 20 us companies cooperate a million dollars each in intergenerational research launch MIT media lab :– first global hub questioning how digital changes architectures wherever people mobilise apps, rebuild infrastructure
Negropronte MIT Media Lab founder, just as Gates later rued missing main language of smart mobiles, Negropronte edutech too early with PCs. But positive uses of co-workers wiki tech emerge including Jimmy Wales wikipedia
MIT Quadirs take mobile phones to village bangladesh – rural world first 1996 -china soon emukates in race to mobilese end of poverty. Quadirs first syndicate includes gift from Soros and tech transfer from Telenor and momentum of Grameen Dr Yunus

xhow mightthe peoples of asia pacifc celebrate development since the UN formed escap in 1947- by the late 1950s thanks to americans borlaug and deming miracles began around japan rising which connected major far east islands taiwan hk singpaore and south korea penisular; by 1968 china had ended any belief that russia was leading the way its peoples wanted to be freed after 110 yers of withdrawing from world trade rather than accept the british proposition that opium be used as a currency-three miracles in one emerged by the late 1970s: china adapted rural keynsianism and women lift up half the sky focusing on barefoot medic networks and rice green revolution- the disapora chiense were now the 3rd strongest finacial network and the fastest growing one- they wanted to inward invets in the mainland- deng after surveying us, germany and japan concluded only japans engineering leaders had the knowhow china most needed - the mniracle of over a billion chinese being lifted out ofpoverty began; it took almost 20 years more before a team around manmohan singh opened up india to trade- sadly the indians model didnt distribute rural health and education as deeply as china did- added to this the nation with the ekast resources of all at its birth 1971 showed what women can build out of vilages , hard work and for 3 decades no access to electricity grods or telecoms - from late 1990s bangladesh became a world epicentre of leapfrog models - eg solar for electricity, text mobiule banking for hundreds of millions of unbanked

WHY INDIA NEEDS TO LOVE CHINA NOW NOT ENGLISH SPEAKING CHIEFS

If whole Eurasian continent had been 10 degrees more to south, mercantile co,lonia half of millennium 2 might never have happened; the north coastal belt could have been easy to navigate as happy Euro North route to china's east coast is now, and british empire would never have decimate india's economy just because india blocked sialing routes to .

Happy 175 James--Our hopes that scots, economist and media people could help end poverty began 175 years ago with this charter for all world class branding colaborations of end poverty

We have made such arrangements and under such superintendence, as will secure the accomplishment of all that we propose, in a way which we trust will render our objects and exertions useful to the country: we have no party or class interests or motives; we are of no class, or rather of every class: we are of the landowning class: we are of the commercial class interested in our colonies, in our foreign trade, and in our manufactures: but our opinions are that not one part of these can have any lasting and true success that is not associated and co-existing with the prosperity of all.

And lastly—if we required higher motives than bare utility, to induce that zeal, labour, and perseverance against all the difficulties which we shall have to encounter in this work—we have them. If we look abroad, we see within the range of our commercial intercourse whole islands and continents, on which the light of civilization has scarce yet dawned; and we seriously believe that FREE TRADE, free intercourse, will do more than any other visible agent to extend civilization and morality throughout the world—yes, to extinguish slavery itself. Then, if we look around us at home, we see ignorance, depravity, immorality, irreligion, abounding to an extent disgraceful to a civilized country;

and we feel assured that there is little chance of successfully treating this great national disease while want and pauperism so much abound: we can little hope to improve the mental and moral condition of a people while their physical state is so deplorable:—personal experience has shown us in the manufacturing districts that the people want no acts of parliament to coerce education or induce moral improvement when they are in physical comfort—and that, when men are depressed with want and hunger, and agonized by the sufferings of helpless and starving children, no acts of parliament are of the slightest avail.

-james died in kolkata- instead of his vision charter banking this port as mid 19th C gateway to win-win trade new belt road between china bangaldesh and india, the opium wars forced china to wall off a fifth of the world's most creative people for over 100 years- this was an even greater loss to the artistic freedom of man than the steady decline of venice and the whjole med sea region from 1500 as mercantile rukers of waves win-lose trades replaced half a millennium of celebrating the amazing grace of silk road traders- flash forward to 1972, make sure wherever you parent girls that the miracles of china and bangaldesh 1972-2017 resonate trough every education system including wise summits at UNGA (spet 2018) at Paris March (2019), at the 2nd 100 nations rebirth of Belt Road Inspires may 2019 BRI- school mba systems

20 years ago Jim Rohwer published Asia Rising and was plotting launching the equivalent of The Economist in Asia. (some personal research available by dad Norman macrae if you can give us context of interest). While Jim's super optimistic book has in many ways turned out to be under-optimistic sadly he died in a boating accident. If anyone's an alumni of Asia Rising we love to be contacted chris.macrae@yahoo.co.uk - and I will be making as many lins as I can to the references of what was explorable in 1995. Asia's development was then and is now the best news anyone can have the privilege of diarising.

Join us in exploring economics: designed to invest in next generation's livelihoods starting with ending being born into poverty- and voicelessness over the future's possibilities.

Asia explorations have helped us map this more than anywhere else including:
*Japan since 1962 with father and The Economist
China with The Economist Asia Team since 1972
Bangladesh village networks since 2005 eg grameen.tv and brac.tv
Pre-war Korea with my uncle once removed
Gandhi's Inidian
Independence wit my maternal granfater 1921-1946
With Asia's and Africa's elearning satellite yazmi since 2014
With youth-valuation emerging open society views - eg Soros, Gorbachev, Nobel Peace, Preferential Option Poor since 1984
With womens empowerment valuation networks since 2012

2020 is 44th year since my father at the economist started linking in those who saw china's race of one fifth of the world's people ending poverty as determining whether human sustainability would be possible- survey 1977 in the economist, bad actors response in dc 1978, .. as schwarzman has said, china is a core curriculum for any child of the 21st century seeking human sustainability-see deans from oxford, mit and tsinghua who agree- who else are people working courageously to celebrate sustainability knowhow and exchanges between chinese youth and other national-when can you next zoom:
